Meletso’s favourite wine festivals

Living in Gauteng doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy the best of our locally produced wine, the best way to sample wine is to attend a wine festival and with so many wine festivals hosted throughout the year Meletso wanted to highlight some of our favourites to attend.

Groves and Vineyards

Meletso recently attended Groves and Vineyards at Casalinga Ristorante Italiano in Muldersdrift with some friends.

The two day event takes place annually in May, we were treated to great food, amazing wines, top local musical talent and a relaxed vibe.

Saturday’s line up inlcuded :  Acoustic ElementYangaSamthing Soweto and  Lira who certainly didn’t disappoint the crowd.

Pilotage & Biltong Festival

Pinotage & Biltong Festival originated from Franshoek and also takes place annually in October at Leriba Hotel in Centurion on the lawns next to the Hennops River in a “Bushveld” setting.

Your ticket price includes tasting the specially selected biltong which is paired with the best Pilotage’s whilst listening to live Jazz. There is also a Kids zone which means there is entertainment for the whole family.
You also get to dress up in purple and white so take your pic at the Selfiepro stand and stand a chance at winning a big prize for the best outfit.

Tops at Spar Wine Show

Hosted at Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and also in Pretoria.

Winderland takes place at Menlyn Mall this year from 3-5 October.

This year’s theme is “LIFE’S A CABERNET” a glorious pourformance awaits wine lovers with some of South Africa’s best cellars taking centre stage.

This festival is great to purchase wines at discounted prices.

Good Food and Wine Show

Takes place annually at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, you will be treated to the best food and wine, including wine tasting.

The Good Food & Wine Show is Africa’s largest culinary event and this year it has been rebranded and launched with a new theme – “Fresh” which is the golden thread tying everything in the show together.

Our favourite thing about the Good Food and Wine show is getting to interact with our favourite chefs and watch live demonstrations, you even get to participate and of course tasting the creations.
